[OCMEA] Church Employment Opportunities for Music Students

Dear Onondaga County Music Educators Association List Moderator,

I work at Syracuse University in the Department of Information Systems and am the Director of Music at two local Roman Catholic churches.  The churches at which I am the Director of Music--and a third Roman Catholic church with which I am affiliated--are seeking students to lead the congregation in song.  The parishes are looking for tenors and baritones who are available to sing on Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings.  Sopranos and altos will be considered as well.  I've attached to this e-mail and copied below the formal announcement.  This is an excellent opportunity for students to perform on a regular basis, and also to gain experience in working in a liturgical church.  Could you please post this announcement of employment opportunities at my parishes to the Onondaga County Music Educators Association Announcement list, and also forward it to any other music teachers or students that may be interested in the positions?

·        POSITIONS AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY

·        TENORS and BARITONES preferred

·        SOPRANOS and ALTOS considered

·        Saturday Mass times are 4:00pm, 4:30pm, and 6:00pm

·        Sunday Mass times are 8:00am, 9:00am, 10:30am, and 11:30am

·        Flexible scheduling

·        Sight-singing proficiency desired

·        Choral conducting experience required for Choir Director position

·        Excellent pay for 1½ to 3 hour weekly commitment

·        The Church of Saint Therese is within walking distance of the Syracuse University Campus

·        Familiarity with Roman Catholic hymns and liturgical music preferred, but not required
